Height: 5’8” Bats, Throws, Putts and Shoots: Right Sports I've Played Competitively: Swimming, Basketball, Tennis, Track, Rowing, & Golf Go-To Golf Club: 9-wood (who knew?!) Anne Stricherz has been speaking the language of sports and spirituality her entire life. The daughter of a collegiate tennis player, Anne’s paternal grandfather was a high school football coach and a Pac8/Pac-10 referee and her maternal grandfather was an All-Ireland champion in the one-mile. It should be of no surprise that Anne was a distance runner and played tennis, loves Notre Dame football and values good officiating. Anne participated in grade school CYO sports and credits her high school, Carondelet with truly forming her into a student-athlete. She is now Assistant Athletic Director for Mission and Engagement and teaches at Saint Francis High School in Mountain View. It is through her experience as a four-year rower at the University of Notre Dame that she encountered the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) Program. ACE grounded Anne in the ministry and vocation of teaching. In 2009, Anne created a blog and theology course entitled Sports & Spirituality. An avid sports fan, Anne believes we can learn more about the spiritual life through the analogy of sports. The class and her writing is fortified by Anne’s experience in having coached girls' high school rowing, cross-country and golf. Today she works with coaches to help them create their own program for the spiritual development of their athletes. She is the author of "Pray and Practice with Purpose: A Playbook for the Spiritual Development of Athletes"—a book to serve as a complimentary resource. Anne has spoken about Sports and Spirituality at parishes, local and national conferences. She is now working with other athletic departments—in particular at secondary schools nationwide—to help them "faith train" their athletes. My favorite in Sports….
